Frappiers celebrate 64 years of marriage

Clarence “J.R” and Grace Frappier of Mansura celebrated their 64th wedding anniversary on December 21, 2009.

The couple was wed December 21, 1944 in Virginia, and have spent the last 34 years living in Avoyelles on Mansura's LeGlise Street in the turn of the century Joe Mayeux home.

The couple were known for their roles as "Santa" and "Mrs. Santa" for years as the sat on their porch dressed in style and handed out candy for several days before Christmas. Their home and yard was a familiar site in Mansura as it was always decorated with hundreds of Christmas lights and yard ornaments.

It became a tradition for many area children to make an annual visit to the Frapper house. It was not unusual to see a line of children and cars in front of their home before the holidays.
