Saints Win Supebowl!

Avoyelles is celebrating tonight along with the rest of Louisiana as The New Orleans Saints have won the Superbowl.

Fans in Avoyelles had built up for the big game - from parties in the lobby of the Union Bank to the Avoyelles Hospital, it has been a celebration that has never been seen before.

Saints franchise owner Tom Benson, whose mother is from the Porche family of Pointe Coupee Parish, accepted the trophy and corrected a newscaster who said the win was big not only the saints, but for New Orleans. Benson was quick to point out "the win was not just good for New Orleans, but for all of Louisiana.

"We are back..the state is back", he exclaimed.

Right after the game, cell phone usage was just about impossible in Avoyelles, as fans clogged up lines talking to familiy and friends around the parish, state and nation.
