WEBSTER PARISH -- State Fire Marshal Butch Browning announced Wednesday afternoon that a fatal house fire occurred in Cotton Valley (Webster Parish) claiming the life of the sole occupent, Allen Parish, born Oct 4, 1959.
Arrest in Baton Rouge, Louisiana on Federal Bank and Mail Fraud Charges
United States Attorney David R. Dugas announced that TIMOTHY M. STRAIN, age 47, of Baton Rouge, Louisiana, was arrested today pursuant to a criminal complaint signed by U.S. District Court Magistrate Judge Christine M. Noland charging STRAIN with mail fraud and bank fraud. The affidavit filed in support of the complaint alleges that STRAIN used fraudulent money orders to pay the balance due on two vehicle loans.
The mail fraud charge carries a maximum sentence of 20 years in prison. The bank fraud charge carries a maximum sentence of 30 years in prison.

Two Die in Crash near Vinton
Two people died this morning as the result of a two vehicle crash in Calcasieu Parish. A 1998 GMC pickup driven by Raymond Armentor, 47, of Sulphur, was traveling west on U.S. 90 east of Vinton, crossed the center line, and collided head on with a 1994 Chevrolet van driven by Brian Holland, 47, of Sulphur.
