Avoyelles adds six COVID cases to pandemic total

There were only 64 COVID-19 tests reviewed in Avoyelles Parish's Tuesday update from the state. Unlike the updates on Friday and on Monday, which both had about 200 test results with no net gain in cases for the parish, Tuesday's low number of tests contained six positive cases.

Due to the low sample, of course, the 9.3 percent positive rate should not viewed with fear but may be cause to monitor future reports to ensure it is not the start of an upward trend.

As of Tuesday, the parish's pandemic totals were 4,340 diagnosed cases of COVID with 123 deaths from the virus. The state's totals on Tuesday were 478,464 cases and 10,699.
