Avoyelles Thursday COVID update: 19 new cases, one death

It appears the caboose of the Omicron train is in sight.
For the first time since the "fifth wave" crashed ashore, Avoyelles Parish had less than 20 new cases with a one-day positive rate of under 10 percent. Unfortunately, the parish also added one more victim to its pandemic death toll.
The Thursday report from the Louisiana Department of Health showed 14 first-time infections and five reinfections for a total of 19 new cases.
As of Thursday, Avoyelles' 22-month COVID totals showed 10,630 individuals infected with 769 being reinfected at least 90 days later, for a totl of 11,399 COVID cases since March 2020. There are have been 194 COVID-related fatalities.
The state's totals on Thursday were 1.2 million cases and 16,138 deaths.
