Avoyelles' weekend COVID report: 715 tests, six new cases

If Avoyelles Parish can put together a string of COVID updates like Monday's weekend report from the state, the battle will have been won. Unfortunately, past history indicates the positive report from Monday could be countered by an equally negative one in the near future.

But maybe not.

The report released by the state Monday contains results from Saturday, Sunday and Monday updates. Of the 715 tests reviewed, there were six positives. Of those results, there were three positives in 647 lab tests and three positives in 68 rapid result tests. The overall positive rate for those three days' results is about 0.8 percent. In the lab tests, used to determine the parish's official rate, the positive rate was about 0.4 percent.

The parish's pandemic totals as of Monday were 4,317 cases (3,750/567) and 123 deaths (115/8). The state's totals were 473,777 cases and 10,619 deaths.
