Midweek COVID update: two cases, no deaths in Avoyelles

Avoyelles' mid-week COVID report continued a trend -- with the notable exception of Monday's "catch-up" shocker -- of very few new cases.

The Wednesday update reviewed 237 test results with only two new cases, There were no additional deaths reported.

Not counting Monday's report, which had 232 new cases due to a backlog of previously unreported results, the Wednesday-to-Wednesday review of reported results had only 10 new cases over the week and two additional deaths.

As of Wednesday, Avoyelles' 19-month pandemic totals are 7,327 infections with 181 fatalities. Statewide there have been 760,691 cases with 14,585 COVID-related deaths.

The parish's official weekly positive rate, for the period of Oct. 21-27, remained at 0.9 percent. Positive rates rose in six of the parish's eight neighbors. The rate fell in Evangeline and West Feliciana parishes.
