Tuesday COVID update: 57 new cases, no deaths

There were only 229 test results in Tuesday's COVID update for Avoyelles Parish. Of those, 57 were positive. There were no additional deaths since Monday's report.

As is usually the case lately with relatively small numbers of tests, the percent of positives was very high in the Tuesday sampling. The overall positive rate was almost 25 percent. The positive rate for lab tests was almost 29 percent -- 55 out of 190. The positive rate for rapid result tests, which is usually higher, was just over 5 percent -- two out of 39 tests.

As of Tuesday Avoyelles' pandemic totals are 6,037 cases and 139 deaths. Statewide there have been 664,618 cases with 12,116 deaths.
