Wednesday COVID update for Avoyelles: one case in 277 tests

Avoyelles Parish could not have hoped for a much better COVID update than the one it received Wednesday. With 277 tests reviewed, there was only one new case of COVID diagnosed. To make that very good news even better, there were no new cases in the 258 lab test results. The new case was found in the 19 rapid result tests reviewed.

The state released the parish's official weekly positive rate on Wednesday, which is based on lab test results. That rate improved from 0.6 percent for the seven-day period of Nov. 4-10 to 0.5 percent for Nov. 11-17.

There were no additional COVID-related deaths in this report.

The risk level of the nine-parish "Avoyelles neighborhood" is mostly "moderate," including Avoyelles. LaSalle Parish is considered "high" risk and Pointe Coupee is rated as "substantial" risk.

As of Wednesday, the 20-month pandemic totals for Avoyelles are 7,383 infections and 181 fatalities. The state totals on Wednesday are 769,051 cases and 14,777 deaths.
