Hurricane Delta arrived near Creole at about 5 p.m. and is working its way inland at about 17 mph. It is still expected to pass between Alexandria and Marksville at about 1 p.m.

With a hurricane headed its way, with the prospects -- if not the promise -- of widespread power outages, wind damage and heavy rains, Avoyelles Parish still had reason to celebrate some good news
Sand bags will be available at the following locations. Avoyelles Emergency Preparedness Director Joey Frank said people must bring their own shovel to fill the bags.
In Thursday's noon update from the Louisiana Department of Health, Avoyelles once again had "bad" numbers in its fight against COVID-19.
