Only six new cases of covid reported in Avoyelles

Thursday's COVID update from the state Department of Health brought relatively good news for Avoyelles, with only six new cases out of 105 test results with no additional COVID-related fatalties added to the parish's pandemic death toll.
As of Thursday, the parish's COVID numbers were 1,261 cases, 43 deaths and 18,010 tests. The positivity rate for tests between the Wednesday and Thursday updates was 5.7 percent.
The state had 723 new cases, 23 additional deaths and 10,036 tests since Wednesday's update, for a positivity rate of 7.2 percent in the one-day totals. Since the pandemic began in March, Louisiana has had 145,637 COVID infections, 4,711 COVID-related deaths and conducted 1,818,203 COVID tests.
