Tuesday COVID report: two new cases, no additional deaths

Avoyelles Parish's total COVID numbers were still being adjusted Tuesday after more than 4,000 previously unreported test results with 200 previously unreported cases were dumped into the parish's pandemic totals. On Tuesday, the parish had a net of only 41 additional tests with two new cases.

The state health department took back 18 lab tests which were apparently incorrectly assigned to the parish. That did not have an effect on Avoyelles' total cases identified by lab tests, indicating those tests were negative results.

There were 59 rapid result tests in the Tuesday report, which is where the two new cases were diagnosed.

There were no additional COVID-related deaths.

As of Tuesday, Avoyelles' pandemic totals since March 2020 are 7,325 cases and 181 deaths. Statewide totals are 760,246 cases and 14,565 deaths.
