‘Hessmer healers’ Nurse practioners join Avoyelles Hospital rural health staff

Avoyelles Hospital has added services with two new nurse practioners now on staff at their clinics.
Rebecca Pollock is the newest nurse practioner to join the Marksville Family Care Clinic on Highway One in Marksville.
Pollock is the daughter of Lynn Bordelon and Barbara Lang of Hessmer and is the sister of Parish Coroner and Avoyelles Hospitalist Dr. James Bordelon.
She is a board certified adult-gerontology Primary Care Nurse Practioner. Pollock studied at Northwestern State University in Natchitoches and received her Master of Science in Nursing from the University of Alabama at Birmingham School of Nursing.
“I have a great interest in the well-being and health of people who live here and in the surrounding communities,” she said. “It makes me feel really special to be able to help people and to be able to do something I have always dreamed to do.”
Pollock will focus her practice with her brother, to diagnose and treat health conditions including the importance of screenings and preventative measures for colon and breast cancer.
She is married to Joseph Pollock and the couple has two children, 19-year-old daughter, Tenley Bordelon and 11-year-old son, Joel.
Randall Laborde, is a Brouillette native who now resides in Hessmer. He currently services in the Avoyelles Hospital Rural Health Clinic.
“I love Avoyelles Parish and the people here and I’m excited to be working close to home with faces that I’m familiar with,” he said. “I look forward to working with patients.”
Laborde is the son of Randall and Christine Laborde.
He and his wife, Paige have one son, 5-year-old, Parker.
Laborde received a Bachelor of Science in Biology from LSU in 2009 and a Bachelor of Science in Nursing in 2011 from Louisiana College.
In 2021, after 10 years of ICU experience at Rapides Regional, Laborde received his Master of Science in Nursing from Northwestern State University.
