APSB announces mask mandate for upcoming school year

The Avoyelles Parish School Board has announced via their social media sites that all students in grades 3-12 will be required to wear a face covering while inside school facilities.
According to the announcement, rising COVID-19 cases have caused the board to change their consideration of optional masks for the upcoming school year to the re-implementing the same mask mandate held during the 2020-21 school year.
Face coverings are also mandatory for all school bus riders. "Due to the Presidential Executive Order on promoting COVID-19 Safety in Domestic and International Travel, All passengers and school bus riders must wear a mask while using transportation."
Visitors to all school locations will also be required to "mask up" and maintain 6 ft. social distancing during their visit.
The first day of public school is August 6.
