APSB honors 2018 Outstanding Support Employees

Eleven school support employees chosen by their peers were honored at a reception and recognized by the Avoyelles School Board on June 5.

“We could not do this without your assistance,” Assistant Superintendent Thelma Prater told the school-level Outstanding School Support Employees.

Superintendent Blaine Dauzat said the most important thing about the annual award is that the winners are chosen by their co-workers. “It’s not a matter of you getting so many points for doing this and so many for doing that,” Dauzat said. “Your colleagues voted for you.”

The employees were told that it isn’t just what they do at their work site, but how they do it -- willingly, without complaining, and consistently doing what is needed to help the school succeed.

The individual school-level winners are Dana Bordelon, special ed clerk in the Central Office; Joanne Taylor, special ed paraprofessional at Plaucheville Elementary; Cheyenne Bordelon, school nurse at Riverside Elementary; Linda Daigrepont, special ed paraprofessional at Marksville High; Keri Desselle, paraprofessional at LaSAS; Hope Ducote, custodian at Bunkie High; Sarah Ducote, paraprofessional at Cottonport Elementary; Ontario Watson, special ed paraprofessional and coach at Avoyelles High; John Sampson, behavioral interventionist at Bunkie Elementary; Mary Littleton, cafeteria manager at Lafargue Elementary and Kelsey Ducote, speech therapist at Marksville Elementary.
