Parish health unit offering COVID tests, vaccinations

Holcombe encourages those seeking services to use health unit to ease pressure on ERs, med providers

The state Office of Public Health is encouraging those seeking tests for COVID or a vaccination to protect against infection to take advantage of the parish health unit for both services, OPH Region VI Administrator Dr. David Holcombe said.

"Gven the tremendous increase in COVID cases, associated with the low vaccination rates in Central Louisiana, and the recommendations for Day 1 and Day 5 testing for all exposures to positive cases, despite vaccination status, the Office of Public Health continues to offer COVID testing and vaccination at all Health Unit sites," Holcombe said. "This should assist in decompressing the hospital ERs and other providers who are experiencing huge increases in testing and vaccination."

Holcombe said the parish health unit "is here to help the community to confront the scourge of COVID-19 and this new highly transmissible variant.

"SLEEVES UP CENLA. LET’S GET VACCINATED," he added with emphasis.
