There were only 13 new cases of COVID in Avoyelles Parish over the weekend, including 10 first-time infections and three reinfections.
UPDATE: Police have reported negotiating with the suspect has been peaceful and the stand off is resolved without incident.
Avoyelles Parish had its first reorted COVID case on March 21, 2020, and its first COVID-related death 10 days later. A year later the parish's pandemic death toll had reached 121.
