Reducing a proposed 1/2-cent sales tax to 1/4-cent and moving it from the Nov. 3 to Dec. 5 ballot will be discussed at the Avoyelles Police Jury’s special meeting at 5 p.m. Thursday (March 19).

Hessmer Mayor Travis Franks announced the temporary closure of the town hall to the public. The closure is part of the COVID-19 precautionary measure currently being taken worldwide.
