Betty Ducote, 84, of Bunkie

A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered for Betty Chenevert Ducote on Friday, December 10, 2021 at 12 noon at St. Alphonsus Catholic Church with Rev. Edwin Rodriguez-Hernandez officiating. Entombment will follow in the St. Alphonsus Garden Mausoleum under the direction of Melancon Funeral Home, Bunkie.

The family requests that visitation be observed at Melancon Funeral Home on Friday, December 10, 2021 from 9:00 a.m. - 11:30 a.m.

Mrs. Ducote, age 84, of Bunkie, passed away on Sunday, December 5, 2021 at Riviere de Soleil Community Care Center. She attended elementary and high school at Hessmer High School, where she was the Valedictorian of her class. She attended Cottonport Trade School, obtaining a degree in Stenography. She was the secretary at the Department of Education Youth Center, retiring after twenty-nine years of service. After retiring, she enjoyed cooking for her family, working in her yard and playing Pokeno. She was also a member of the Bayhills Breakfast Club. She was preceded in death by her parents, Cesero and Daisy Chenevert; her sister, Shirley Whidden and her brother, Nathan Chenevert.

She is survived by her husband, Huey J. Ducote of Bunkie; her daughter, Cindy Craft and husband, Paul, of Hoover, AL; her son, Randy Ducote and wife, Connie, of Bunkie; her sister, Inez Armand of Hessmer; her brother,Wayne Chenevert of Hessmer; her six grandchildren, Christopher Ducote, Donovan Ducote, Ryan Ducote, Julie Ann Craft, David Craft and Heather Ducote and her seven great grandchildren, Reagan Ducote, Chandler Ducote, Maggy Ducote, Kylee Ducote, Carlie Ducote, Alyssa Ducote and Ariel Birdsong.
