Col. Charles Bernard Jones, RET., 77, Marksville

Mass of Christian burial for Col. Charles Bernard Jones, RET. will be held on Friday, December 23, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Marksville with Father Dan O’Connor officiating. Recitation of the Holy Rosary will begin at St. Joseph Catholic Church at 10:30 a.m. Interment will follow at St. Joseph Catholic Mausoleum #2 with full Military Honors. Arrangements are under the direction of Hixson Brothers Funeral Home of Marksville.

Mr. Jones, age 77, of Marksville, LA., passed away at Rapides Regional Medical Center in Alexandria, LA. on Sunday, December 18, 2022. He is preceded in death by his parents, James Charles and Laura Thomas Jones.

Col. Jones served two tours in Vietnam, first as an enlisted infantryman and second as an attack helicopter pilot. Upon retirement, from the United States Army, he returned to Avoyelles Parish to start his second career as and educator and then as a principal. Col. Jones was a member and past president of the Avoyelles Parish Police Jury and volunteered to serve on many parish boards.

Those left to cherish his memory are his wife, Estelita Jones of Marksville; son, Charles B. Jones, JR. of Hessmer; daughters, Karen Desselles (Robert) of Baton Rouge, Tia Styles (Sean) of Alexandria, LA , Laura Johnson (Dexter) of Houston, TX., Jacqueline Jones of Lafayette; brothers, Jameslynn Jones of Houston, TX., James Jones, Jr. (Delfina) of El Paso, TX., William Jones of Hammond, Daveleous Jones, Eric Jones; sisters, Pamela Jones, Marla Jones of Houston, TX. and special sister, Maureen Benson (Clyde) of Marksville. He also leaves behind numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, family, and friends.
