Cora Ann “Bedee” Desselle, age 87, was called to her eternal home on Thursday, June 21, 2018 at Rapides Regional Medical Center. She was surrounded by her grandchildren and family. Though she may be gone from us, her faith in Christ Jesus ensures us that she is now with our Father in Heaven and is reunited with her husband and children.
Bedee was born in Thibodeaux on January 16, 1931 to Gaston and Lola Moreau Ledet. At the age of six, she moved to Marksville with her family, where she resided until her death. Bedee met the love of her life, Elmo “Buck” Desselle, at a train station in Marksville, and they were married 30 short days later. They shared a life of 48 years together, working side-by-side in their country store and fish market. Their love of the outdoors created countless memories of camping, hunting and fishing together. Their marriage was greatly blessed with three children, six grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
Until the end, Bedee gave herself entirely to her faith and her family. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend. Many memories were made gathered around her kitchen table for weekly Sunday dinners after church. Bedee was a talented cook without a need for a recipe. She was passionate about her vegetable garden and fruit trees, and canning was an annual summer past time. Her fig preserves drew attention from customers across the south. Bedee was a one-of-a-kind, self-taught seamstress, sewing and designing for friends and family.
Her faith and love of CHRIST was paramount in her life. Her focus was the word of GOD, sharing scripture with others, and reading her Bible daily. She was a member of the Marksville Church of the Nazarene. Bedee has left a legacy of her Faith in God, devotion to her family, and unending love.
Bedee was the definition of strength, grace, and faith as she waited years to be reunited with her husband, Elmo “Buck” Desselle; her children, Ronnie Desselle Sr., Vickie Sanders and Nancy Faye Desselle; and her sister, Nell Bernard.
Those left to cherish her memory and carry on her legacy of goodness include her daughter-in-law, Janice Desselle; son-in-law, Darrel Sanders; grandchildren, Rhonda (Vincent) Dauzat, Ronnie (Hope) Desselle Jr., Randy (Karyn) Desselle, Robin (Ryan) Ours, Lauri (Eddie Jr.) Knoll and Nancy Beth (Chris) Soprano; brother, Roy Ledet; great-grandchildren, Casey Dauzat, Blake Dauzat, Jennie Desselle, Mandy Desselle, Peter Desselle, Nathan Harrison, Mackenzie Harrison, Kyler Harrison, Anabelle Ours, Audrey Ours, William Ours, Alex Ours, Trey Knoll, Lawson Knoll, Jeanne Elyse Knoll, Seth Soprano and Stella Soprano; and great-great grandchild, Gracie Desselle.
Pallbearers honored to serve are Darrell Sanders, Ronnie Pete Desselle Jr., Randy Desselle, Vincent Dauzat, Ryan Ours, Eddie Knoll Jr., Christopher Soprano and Joey Ledet. Honorary pallbearers include her great-grandsons; Blake Dauzat, Peter Desselle, Trey Knoll, Lawson Knoll, William Ours and Seth Soprano.
