Dolores Molina Blood, 87, Lone Pine

Dolores Molina Blood, aged 87, of Lone Pine, LA, passed away peacefully on Friday, January 19, 2024, at Bayou Vista Nursing Center in Bunkie, LA

Mrs. Blood enjoyed spending time with her family members, especially over a good meal she prepared with love. She was an avid reader, a gifted seamstress, and often found piecing together a quilt she designed. Although Mrs. Blood excelled at her indoor pursuits, those who knew her best knew that she was happiest working in her yard and making the world a prettier place. While Mrs. Blood was known as a homemaker for many years, she possessed a talent for eldercare. As a younger woman, she assisted several community members with infirmed family members. This experience led to her career as a certified nursing assistant at Bayou Vista Nursing Center for over 15 years. When Mrs. Blood returned to Bayou Vista Nursing Center as a resident, she was sometimes overheard comforting other residents as if they were under her care, or she would say that she needed to get back to work since she was there.

Those left to cherish her memory include her son, Carl E. Blood, Jr. (Tomas); her daughters, Donna Blood, Vanessa B. Stewart (Bill), and Esther Blood (Matthew); grandsons NaKoma Blood and Aaron Barrett; granddaughters Autumn Blood, Edy Stewart Whitson, Amy Stewart
Bales, and DiAnna DeBona, great-grandchildren Phillip Blood, Hannah Blood, Evan Blood, MacKenzie Whitson, Rhett Whitson, Conrad Bales, Walton Bales, and Sylvie Bales; great-great-grandchildren Liam Blood and Amelia Blood; and sister Mary Ellen “Nan” Molina Kristoff.

Mrs. Blood is preceded in death by her husband of fifty-six years, Carl E. Blood, Sr.; her parents, Simon Molina and Martha Juneau Molina Ramos; her brothers Joe Hernandez, Simon Molina, Jr., Edward Molina, Martin Molina, and Robert Molina; her sisters Ruth Molina Blood and
Lovenia Molina Smith; son-in-law Gary Rachal; great-granddaughter Skyllar Boose; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Vernon Blood, Randall “Pete” Blood, Kenneth Gobert, Robert Molina, Jr., William Molina, and Christopher Cormier will serve as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers include Kevin Molina, Simon Molina, III, and Vernon Daniel Blood.
Mrs. Blood’s family would like to thank the staff of Bayou Vista Nursing Center, the staff of All Saints Hospice, and the staff of Opelousas General Hospital.

Mrs. Blood entrusted her final services to Melancon Funeral Home of Bunkie, LA. Family and friends may call at the funeral home on Monday, January 22, 2024, from 9:30am until 10:45am. Services will be held in the chapel of Melancon Funeral Home at 11:00am with Rev. David Newton officiating. Weather permitting, burial will follow the service at Griffin Hills Cemetery in Lone Pine, LA under the direction of Melancon Funeral Home.
