Eleanor White, 91, Bunkie

Funeral services for Eleanor White will be held at 10:00 p.m. on Wednesday, September 9, 2020 at Hixson-Ducote Funeral Home of Bunkie with the Rev. Norris Landry officiating. Burial will follow in the Pythian Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Hixson-Ducote Funeral Home of Bunkie.
Eleanor J. White, 91 of Bunkie passed away on Monday, September 7, 2020, at Maison De Lafayette. She was born April 10, 1929 in St. Landry, LA, the daughter of Joseph Lee and Mary Morgan Andrus. Eleanor graduated from Bayou Chicot. She was united in marriage with John Cebron Johnston. Eleanor was a stay at home mother as well as a hairstylist. After her first husband’s passing, she married her second husband James White.
In addition to running a household and raising her children, Eleanor was one of the missionaries who founded the First Baptist Church of Hessmer. Her faith in God would shine through in all of her service there. She devoted much of her time and effort to helping those in need through the church.
Eleanor is survived by her children, Joseph (Gloria) Johnston of Carencro, Karen Johnston of Lafayette and Liz Johnston of Lafayette; step-son, Michael White; her grandchildren, Sarah (Joel) Armentor, Kylie Marks, Kelsey Johnston, Rachel Hall, Frieda Johnston, Christopher Johnston; her great-grandchildren, John Connor Hall, Alexander Armentor, Ella Armentor, Anthony Johnston, Samantha Johnston and Danielle Johnston.
She is preceded in death by; her parents; her six siblings; her first husband, John Cebron Johnston; her second husband, James White; and children, Deborah Hall and Mark Johnston.
Friends may visit on Tuesday from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and Wednesday from 8:00 a.m. until the time of service at 10:00 a.m. at Hixson-Ducote Funeral Home of Bunkie.
