MARKSVILLE - Funeral services for Mr. Freeman Joseph Ford will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, March 24, 2018 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Marksville with Father Abraham Varghese officiating. Interment will be at St. Richard’s Cemetery in Hickory Hill. Arrangements are under the direction of Hixson Brothers Funeral Home of Marksville.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, March 24, 2018 in the chapel of Hixson Brothers Funeral Home in Marksville from 8 a.m. until 10:15 a.m. A rosary will be recited at 10:15 a.m. on Saturday, March 24, 2018 by Father Abraham Varghese.
Mr. Ford, age 68, of Marksville, passed away on Wednesday, March 14, 2018 at his residence. Born on March 10, 1950, his main occupation was Administrative Assistant with the Public Defenders’ Office for many years. Ford was a member of the Avoyelles Parish School Board for 34 years starting in 1984. He was one of two first minority members to the board. During his tenure, Ford was elected several terms as vice-president.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Eddie Ford and Elize Jacobs Ford; and two sisters, Georgene Clayton, and Sheila Conway.
Those left to cherish his memory include his wife, Allison Holmes Ford of Marksville; one son, Freeman (Linda) Ford, Jr. of Hampton, Virginia; one daughter, Audrey Ford of Houston, Texas; four step-children, Lopez Henderson of Alexandria, Douglas Cole of Marksville, Destiny Cole of Marksville, and DaKayla Cole of Marksville; two brothers, Marion Ford of Alexandria and Lawrence Ford of Marksville; three sisters, Miranda Martin of Marksville, Irene Jones of Hickory Hill and Patricia Ford of Alexandria; and three grandchildren, Jazmin Ford, DeKwonna White, and Carter Boykins.
