Marksville – A Funeral Mass will be celebrated for Josephine Ford “Phine” Batiste at Holy Ghost Catholic Church on Saturday, April 14, 2018 at 11 a.m. with Father Abraham Varghese, celebrant. Interment will follow in Holy Ghost Catholic Church Cemetery under the direction of Kilpatrick’s Rose-Neath Funeral Home of Marksville.
The Batiste family has requested that a visitation be held at Holy Ghost Catholic Church on Saturday, April 14, 2018 from 8:30 a.m. until the time of the Funeral Mass.
Josephine Ford “Phine” Batiste, age 93 of Marksville, passed away at Riviere de Soleil Community Care Center in Mansura on Thursday, April 5, 2018 at 1:45 p.m.
Ms. Batiste was preceded in death by her husband, Baskum Joseph Batiste; sons, Ronald Joseph Wallace and Floyd Joseph Batiste; parents, Milton, Sr. and Georgia Guillot Ford; siblings, Eddie Ford, Shafter Ford, Sr., Milton Ford, Lyman Ford, Sr., Julia Ford Jacobs, Lillian Ford Lonzo, and Sable Ford Collins; grandsons, Gabriel Anthony Edwards and Tyrone Anthony Hawkins; and great-grandson, Jyheem Chris Taylor.
Those left to mourn and cherish her memory are her children, Harold Joseph (Jane) Batiste of Marksville, Joyce Edwards of San Diego, California, Shirley (Lonia) Bonton of Marksville and Ella (Hillary) Porterie of Marksville; brothers, Paul Joseph (Beatrice) Ford of Marksville and Charles Hilton (Angelina) Ford of Hessmer; daughter-in-law, Jacqueline Oliver Batiste; 15 grandchildren; 34 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers honored to serve are Craig Batiste, Quindrick Batiste, Javoanta Batiste, Samuel Burnett, Travis Collins and Michael Ray Hawkins, Jr.
