Larry Miles Smith
BUNKIE - Larry Miles Smith, age 75, of Bunkie, passed away on Saturday, June 16, 2018 at his home. He was a native of Conway, Arkansas and grew up in Jefferson, Texas. He graduated from high school in Jefferson and joined the U.S. Army. After the military, Larry became a pipeline welder for 20 years and then a pipeline welding inspector for 25 years. He enjoyed his work as it allowed him to work and travel all over the United States. He always had a big garden and he loved home-grown tomatoes. He loved fishing at Toledo Bend Lakes, where his ashes will be scattered.
He was preceded in death by his son, Brandon Miles Smith; and father-in-law, L.P. Carter, III.
He is survived by his wife, Mary Elizabeth “Liz” Carter Leatherwood and his faithful companion, "Lucky" of Bunkie; two daughters, Michelle (Billy) Devitt of Houston, Texas and Leigh (Adam) Guice of Houston, Texas; two step-daughters, Jennifer (Brett) Baker of Bunkie and Lisa (Ray Gallion) Yoder of Temple, Texas; grandchildren, William Devitt, Christopher Devitt, Andrew Devitt and Cason Guice; step-grandchildren, Erica (John) Hathorn Austin (Megan) Baker, Andy Baker, Allie Baker, Gary Yoder, III, Levi Yoder, Dylan Gallion, Aubrey Gallion, and Ava Gallion; great granddaughter, Bryleigh Devitt; and step great-grandchildren, Isaiah Aloni, Kori Hathorn, Brett Baker and Adelynn Lee.
