Leandrae Cannon, age 78, of Hessmer

Inglewood , California - Graveside services for Leandrae Cannon of Hessmer will be held on Friday, August 17, 2018 at Inglewood Park Cemetery in California at 10 a.m.
After a long battle with COPD, LeAndrae Cannon, age 78, was called to rest Saturday, August 4, 2018. Born in Gould, Arkansas on February 18, 1940, Leandrae Cannon went to school at Colt Billiant Elementary at age 5, Cupples Middle School, and Summer High School in St. Louis, Missouri. At 15 years old LeAndrae decided to join the Army and moved to Los Angeles, California where he met Geraldine Cannon. Mr. Cannon got his college education at L.A. City College and later went to Northope Institute of Tech in California. He eventually went into the Air Force and was also able to work as a civilian to get a job at North American Aircraft and Lockhead Aircraft as a helicopter mechanic. Honorably discharged from the military in 1963, Cannon started working for American Building Maintenance entry level position and worked his way up the corporate ladder to eventually become first African American Vice President and a contractor for the company. LeAndrae retired in the early 2000 and moved to Hessmer. His favorite hobbies included golf, bowling, and traveling to see the world.
He was preceded in death by his parents Celestia and Oscar Cannon; and son, LeAndrea Cannon, II.
He leaves behind a spouse, Geraldine Cannon of Hessmer and sister, Patricia Wilson of Los Angeles, California; children, Loren Cannon, Mark Elliot, and Tatiana; grandchildren, Kayla Cannon, Loren Cannon II and Shanel Cannon; and great-grandsons, Xavier Mendoza and Jacob Vargas.
