Marion Hall Gremillion

We are very sad to announce the death of Mrs. Marion Gremillion a long time publisher and editor of the Marksville Weekly News until her retirement in the early 1990s.

She passed away Saturday afternoon in Houston

She will be long remembered in Avoyelles for her contributions to the arts and business.

She was a cofounder of organizations such as the Avoyelles arts Council and Le Theater Des Bon Tempts. She was a past recipient of the Avoyellean of the year award for her contributions to the parish

An accomplished vocalist she shared her talents on stage and with students in the Avoyelles area for many years

She was present preceded in death by her husband Carl Gremillion Jr.

The Gremillion family was involved with Marksville Weekly News from after the Civil War for over 100 years into the 1990s
