Funeral service for Milbert “Winky” Washington of Cottonport will begin at 11:00am on Saturday, February 24, 2024, at Escude Funeral Home in Cottonport. Visitation will begin at 9:00am to 11:00am on Saturday, February 24, 2024 at Escude Funeral Home in Cottonport.

Burial will follow at the Golden Chain Baptist church cemetery.

Milbert “Winky” Washington, age 76, passed away on Saturday. February 17, 2024, at Rapides Regional Medical Center in Alexandria. Milbert was born on January 31, 1948.

Those left to cherish his memory are his daughter, Ethel James, Melady Mayeux, Keisha Mayeux; step-children: Dwen Smoot, Tina Smoot, Earnest Kent Jenkins (Evelyn), And William ''Tommy'' Smoot; 14 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren; sisters, Georgia Washington, Edna Washington, Maude Ella Washington, Marissa Washington Wells, Mildred Butler, and Mazie Virginia Washington; brother, James Ray Washington; and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Milton Washington Sr. and Aziqueen Kelly Washington; wife, Carrie Lee Jenkins Washington; siblings, Authur Washington, Milton Washington Jr., Edward Washington, ElMarie Prater, Henretta Augustine, and Vergi Murry.
