Richard Wall, former warden

Funeral Mass for Richard A. Wall of Marksville will take place at the Christ the King Catholic Church of Simmesport on Sunday, May 26th, 2019 beginning at 1:00pm with Fr. Rusty Rabalais officiating. Entombment will be held at the Christ the King Catholic Mausoleum.

Mr. Richard Wall was a 1956 graduate of Simmesport High School. After graduating, he joined the Army Reserves and served for 8 years. Mr. Wall had an extensive career in corrections from working at Angola State Penitentiary, Hunts Correctional Center, and finally retiring at Avoyelles Correctional Center (now Raymond Laborde Correctional Center) as warden in 1994. During his career he sought out a higher education, which helped him advance in his profession. It also taught him the value of an education, in which he passed on to his children and grandchildren. Mr. Wall was a devoted husband and father to his family, a devoted Catholic, and often times read his Bible. He enjoyed his woodworking and his horse, Moonie.

Richard A. Wall, age 81, passed away on Wednesday, May 22nd, 2019 at his home in Marksville.

Those left to cherish his memory include his wife of 59 years, Joyce Moreau Wall of Marksville; daughters, Karen Lemoine (Curtis) of Big Bend, Amy Dunbar (Robert) of Marksville, and Stacy Moak (Ken) of Mississippi; sisters, Annette Smith and Arlinda Starks. He is also survived by his grandchildren: Jerod Dunbar, Shelby Dunbar, Colin Dunbar, Mason Dunbar, Megan Lemoine, Kyle Lemoine, Kacie Ducote, and Bradley Ducote; two step-grandchildren, Chance Moak and Phillip Moak; great-grandchildren, Elise Lemoine, Gracie Mae Lemoine, Olivia Lemoine, and Audry Lemoine.

He was preceded in death by his parents, C.H. Wall and Adele Susie Floyd Rabalais; step-father, Dallas Rabalais; brother, Michael Rabalais.

Visitation will begin at 8:00am on Sunday, May 26th, 2019 at the Escude Funeral Home of Simmesport and will last until the start of funeral services at 1:00pm.
