Robert was born in Marksville, Louisiana son of Richard Andrew Couvillon and Vivian Theresa Chatelain and much loved sibling of George, Richard and Cathy. Robert was a veteran of the United States Air Force and Louisiana Air National Guard. He was the recipient of The Airman's Medal the highest award for heroism awarded in peacetime. He was a dedicated employee of Continental later United Airlines for the last 30 years of his working life. Robert was not only a dedicated and loving father but enjoyed a devoted and rewarding relationship with his dear nieces and nephews. After family, the other passion of his life was scuba diving. He worked as a commercial diver, master diver instructor and volunteered as a search and rescue diver at Lake Houston. He was a much loved and respected member of Scuba Board Diving Forum and was always ready to share his knowledge and time. He was a strong supporter of Dive Heart a program enabling disabled veterans to experience scuba diving. In all areas of his life he forged deep and lasting friendships with wonderful people. This tribute, from his cousin Conrad, describes him the best " He was always the bravest and strongest boy in the bunch of us who grew up together as kids." This was true of him right up to the very end. Our family; Julie, Marshall, Joe and Sam, are so very thankful to have had him as our beloved and devoted husband and father and will strive to live up to his example of devotion to our catholic faith, and unwavering strength and integrity.
