Teddie J. Bordelon, age 79, passed away on Tuesday, January 9, 2024, at Opelousas General Hospital.

Teddie lived a life filled with joy, laughter, and a deep appreciation for the simple things. He was a loving husband and father, but he took great pride in affectionately being “Deedad” to his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, who brought immense joy into his life. Teddie had a special bond with each of them, and they will forever remember his playful spirit and warm embrace.

One of Teddie's greatest passions was hunting, finding peace in the woods while pursuing squirrels and deer. He also dedicated himself to his home farm, where he raised chickens, ducks, rabbits, and pigs. Teddie relished the tranquil moments spent in nature, appreciating its beauty and serenity.

In 1976, Teddie became a founding member of the Plaucheville Softball League, bringing a sense of camaraderie to the community and creating memories over the years on the field. He served as a deputy with the Avoyelles Sheriff's Department for 17 years. With his community involvement and through work, he met many people over the years and often had a joke to tell them. He touched the lives of many and leaves behind a legacy of compassion, joy, and immense love.

Those left to cherish his memory are his wife of 54 years, Cynthia Scallan Bordelon of Plaucheville; children: Stacey B. Dixon of Moreauville, Allison B. Plauche (Blake) of Plaucheville, Ward Bordelon (Angie) of Plaucheville, & Sarah B. Dupont (Richard) of Plaucheville; siblings, Dillion Bordelon of Plaucheville and Beverly “Tookie” Pierce of Evergreen; 13 grandchildren also survive him: Brady (Olivia), Jack, William, Cameron (Emily), Riley (Ali), Ryan (Mallory), Caiden, Addison, Maddie (Bobby), Owen, Caleb, Julien, and Nate; and 5 great-grandchildren: John Brady, Scarlett, Link, B.J., & Stella.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Herman Bordelon & Addie Ducote Bordelon.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Teddie’s honor to DAV, Disabled American Veterans (P.O. Box 14301, Cincinnati, OH 45250).
